About Casa Diablo

Casa Diablo isn't really about the devil so please don't send religious e-mails or messages about how you conjured up a demon to kill your boss. In an allegorical sense, death and the devil are personas that are largely disappearing from day-to-day Western culture. Science postpones the inevitable and old people are shipped off to senior warehouses where they die beyond the public view. We are too concerned with the exploits of celebrities to deal with it. Satan has been replaced by suicide bombers, politicians, ad men, smart consumers, investors, pollsters, commentators, facilitators, pundits, and deviant clergymen. God is a Saturday morning cartoon hero.

Somewhere in all this there is a price to be paid. We become duller, less imaginative, more controlled, less fearful, more avaricious. We read less. We listen to imbecilic chatter on the radio. We become a little smaller. This little site is a small attempt to wander off in a different direction, if just for a while.

On a broader scale, there is room in this house for other explorations of the human condition.
