Once I considered them rather dry tools for organizing print layouts involving pictures and columns of text. For years I used them for newspaper layouts without giving them a second thought. Well, many years have passed since then, and in 2021 I began experimenting with hand drawn grids and found them suddenly flexible, and gifted with the ability to convey mood, movement and meaning. There aren’t really any rules here.
