Perhaps more than most of the rest of photography, still life is heavily dependent upon the quality of light — it’s ability to hide as well as its ability to reveal. The image making process is slow, and often frustrating, but walking through it allows for very deliberate decisions on the arrangement of objects in the image, direction and quality of light. When it all works, a viewer is allowed into the seemingly secret life of things.
